August 1, 1848
    We started down the trail with:
     15 oxen
     12 sets of clothing
     200 bullets
     3 wagon wheels
     3 wagon axles
     3 wagon tongues
     1300 pounds of food
    We decided to ration the food in  meager portions.
August 2, 1848
    We will now travel at a more grueling pace.
August 3, 1848
    We shot 313 pounds of meat but were able to carry back only 200 pounds of meat.
August 4, 1848
    Heavy fog.  Lost 1 day.
    We will now travel at a less strenuous pace.
August 5, 1848
    We have arrived at the Kansas River Crossing.
    We made the crossing successfully.
August 6, 1848
    No water.
August 9, 1848
    We shot 1385 pounds of meat but were able to carry back only 200 pounds of meat.
    No grass for the oxen.
    We have arrived at the Big Blue River Crossing.
    It was a muddy crossing, but we did not get stuck.
    We decided to ration the food in  filling portions.
August 10, 1848
    No grass for the oxen.
    We decided to rest for 3 days.
August 15, 1848
    Bad water.
    Jeebs was lost for 2 days.
August 16, 1848
    We lost 24 pounds of food due to spoilage.
August 18, 1848
    Bad water.
    We have reached  Fort Kearney.
    We visited the store and bought:
     40 bullets
August 19, 1848
    We shot 181 pounds of meat.
August 22, 1848
    No water.
August 23, 1848
    No grass for the oxen.
August 24, 1848
    Jeebs has the measles.
August 25, 1848
    No grass for the oxen.
August 26, 1848
    Yani is sick with typhoid fever.
August 27, 1848
    We found an abandoned wagon containing:
     32 bullets
August 28, 1848
    We have reached Chimney Rock.
    We decided to rest for 8 days.
August 31, 1848
    Shazablazm has a fever.
September 2, 1848
    Jeebs is well again.
September 6, 1848
    Yani is well again.
    We traded 444 pounds of food for 100 dollars.
September 7, 1848
    We shot 56 pounds of meat.
    No grass for the oxen.
September 8, 1848
    We found some wild fruit.
September 9, 1848
    We shot 159 pounds of meat.
    Bad water.
September 10, 1848
    Shazablazm is well again.
    Bad water.
    We have reached  Fort Laramie.
    We decided to rest for 3 days.
September 14, 1848
    We will now travel at a more grueling pace.

    Bad water.

    Zulaloo is suffering from exhaustion.
September 19, 1848
    We found some wild fruit.
September 20, 1848
    We have reached Independence Rock.
September 21, 1848
    We took the wrong trail and lost 2 days.

    Heavy fog.  Lost 1 day.
September 24, 1848
    Zulaloo died of cholera.

    Jeebs has a fever.
September 27, 1848
    We have arrived at the South Pass.
September 29, 1848
    We shot 893 pounds of meat but were able to carry back only 200 pounds of meat.

October 1, 1848
    Heavy fog.  Lost 1 day.
October 3, 1848
    An ox wandered off for 2 days.
October 6, 1848
    Jeebs is well again.

    No grass for the oxen.
    We have arrived at the Green River Crossing.
    We traded 3 sets of clothing for 1 ox.

    The ferry got our party and wagon safely across.
    Jeebs is suffering from exhaustion.

    Bad water.
    No grass for the oxen.
October 17, 1848
    Heavy fog.  Lost 1 day.
    We lost 20 pounds of food due to spoilage.
October 19, 1848
    We shot 1417 pounds of meat but were able to carry back only 200 pounds of meat.

    We shot 439 pounds of meat but were able to carry back only 200 pounds of meat.
    No grass for the oxen.
October 21, 1848
    Dust storm.  Lost 1 day.

    Bad water.
    Broken wagon axle.
    We couldn't fix the wagon axle, but we replaced it from supplies.

    Heavy fog.  Lost 1 day.
October 25, 1848
    Jeebs is well again.
October 26, 1848
    Bad water.
    No grass for the oxen.
October 27, 1848
    We have reached Soda Springs.
    We decided to rest for 9 days.
October 28, 1848
    Jeebs has dysentery.
November 4, 1848
    Yani has the measles.
November 6, 1848
    Jeebs is well again.
November 7, 1848
    No grass for the oxen.
November 8, 1848
    No water.
    We have reached Fort Hall.
November 10, 1848
    No water.
November 11, 1848
    Bad water.

    Yani is well again.

    We have arrived at the Snake River Crossing.

    We had no trouble floating the wagon across.
    Dust storm.  Lost 1 day.

    We decided to ration the food in  bare-bones portions.
November 18, 1848
    No water.
    Bad water.
November 19, 1848
    An ox is sick.
November 20, 1848
    Bad water.
    We have reached Fort Boise.
November 22, 1848
    Shazablazm has dysentery.
November 23, 1848
    Jeebs has a fever.
November 24, 1848
    No grass for the oxen.
November 25, 1848
    We have arrived at the Grande Ronde in the Blue Mountains.
November 27, 1848
    Jeebs died of cholera.

    Yani has cholera.
